Thiruvathira Puzhukku

Thiruvathira Puzhukku

Ingredients:

  • Colocasia (Chembu) – 1 cup (chopped)
  • Raw Banana (Kaaya) – 1 (chopped)
  • Yam (Kurukku Kizhangu) – ½ cup (chopped)
  • Ash Gourd (Vellarikka) – ½ cup (chopped)
  • Raw Jackfruit (Chakka) – ½ cup (chopped)
  • Split Moong Dal (Kothamparippu Parippu) – ¼ cup
  • Grated Coconut – ½ cup
  • Cumin Seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Dry Red Chilies – 2
  • Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
  • Salt – As required
  • Coconut Oil – 2 teaspoons

Preparation Method:

  1. Wash and chop all the root vegetables into small pieces.
  2. Wash the moong dal and cook it in a little water until soft.
  3. Add the chopped vegetables to the cooked dal, pour some water, and cook until they turn soft.
  4. Grind grated coconut, cumin seeds, and dry red chilies into a coarse paste.
  5. Add this paste to the cooked vegetables and mix well until combined. Add salt to taste.
  6. Finally, add curry leaves and coconut oil, mix thoroughly, and let it rest.
  7. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
