Kerala Beef Roast

Kerala Beef Roast

Ingredients:

  • Beef – ½ kg (cut into pieces)
  • Onion – 3 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato – 2 (chopped into small pieces)
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 ½ tablespoons
  • Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs
  • Coriander Powder – 1 ½ tablespoons
  • Chilli Powder – 1 ½ tablespoons
  • Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Fennel Powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper Powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Grated Coconut – ½ cup
  • Oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Salt – as required
  • Water – as required

Preparation Method:

  1. In a pressure cooker, add beef, turmeric powder, salt, ½ teaspoon chilli powder, ½ teaspoon black pepper powder, ½ teaspoon coriander powder, and 1 sprig of curry leaves. Add the required amount of water and cook for 3-4 whistles until the beef is tender.
  2. Once cooked, set the beef aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add curry leaves and chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté well.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft. Then, add the remaining chilli powder, coriander powder, fennel powder, black pepper powder, and garam masala. Stir well and sauté on low heat.
  6. Add the cooked beef to the masala and mix well until it is fully coated with the spices.
  7. Add grated coconut and cook until the mixture thickens.
  8. Serve the beef roast hot with ghee rice, tapioca (kappa), chapati, or parotta!
