Vellarikka Puttu

Required Ingredients:

  • Puttu flour – 2 cups

  • Grated coconut – ½ cup

  • Water – as needed

Preparation Method:

  1. Wash the cucumber thoroughly, peel it, and either chop it into small pieces or grate it.

  2. In a bowl, mix puttu flour and salt evenly.

  3. Add the grated cucumber and sprinkle water gradually, mixing until the flour reaches a moist, crumbly texture.

  4. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes to allow the cucumber juice to blend well with the flour.

  5. In a puttu maker, layer grated coconut first, then the cucumber-infused flour mixture, alternating between the two.

  6. Steam the puttu for 10-12 minutes until cooked.

  7. Soft, mildly sweet cucumber puttu is ready to be served!
